Obituary for Eston Yates Brickhouse
Eston Yates Brickhouse, 100, of Creswell died Monday, January 13, 2014, at his residence. Born August 14, 1913 in Tyrrell County he was the son of the late Frank Norman Brickhouse and Mildred Armstrong Brickhouse and was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian B. Fisher and Helen Brickhouse; brothers, Frank Brickhouse, Albert Brickhouse and Herman Brickhouse. Mr. Eston was a retired farmer, real estate broker and owned a security business. He was a graduate of Wake Forest College, Class of 1937, and was employed by North Carolina Pulp Company and later Hercules Company. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict and earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his military service he returned to resume his business ventures. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Elks Club, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His family includes his niece, Phyllis F. Nicholson of Los Lunas, N.M. and nephew, Thurman Brickhouse of Richmond, VA; loving caregivers, Cindy Jones, Cecil Jones and Lillie Mae Steeley and many wonderful friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell with Charles Reber officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home following the service and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
