Obituary for Essie Pearl Modlin Scott
Essie Pearl Modlin Scott, 91, of Jamesville died Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Forsythe Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C.
Born June 3, 1924 in Martin County she was the daughter of the late Haywood Modlin and Betty Waters Modlin and was preceded in death by her husband, William David Scott; great-grandson, William Connor Ringo; brothers, Mayo Modlin and James Modlin; sisters, Livie Shearin, Blanche Ricks, Dolly Chesson and Dorothy Baggett. Mrs. Scott was co-owner of Scott's Janitorial Service of Plymouth and was a member of Gospel Light Church of Christ.
Her family includes her daughters, Betty Lilley and husband Bill of Kernersville, N.C., Barbara James of Jamesville, N.C. and Sheila Ange and husband Herbert of Jamesville, N.C.; brothers, Bill Modlin, Bobby Modlin and David Modlin all of Plymouth, N.C. and Raymond Modlin of Robersonville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Gospel Light Church of Christ with Jim Cooper, Bob Moulden and Pete Kunkle officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth and other times at the residence of her daughter Sheila.
