Obituary for Elva Rae Ambrose Bowen
Elva Rae Ambrose Bowen, 86, of Plymouth died Friday, September 7, 2012, at Roanoke Landing Nursing Center in Plymouth. Born December 26, 1925 in Beaufort County she was the daughter of the late David Franklin Ambrose and Annie Ella Silverthorne Ambrose and was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Wilmer Bowen; sister, Lovadia Ambrose Everett and brother, Ernest Ambrose. Mrs. Bowen was a retired nurse's aide with Washington County Hospital and member of Long Acre Chapel Christian Church. Her family includes her daughters, Lois Bowen Reason and husband Jimmy, Barbara Bowen Harris and husband Tommy, June Bowen Morris and husband Lamur all of Plymouth, N.C. and Joyce A. Bowen and fiance' David Bateman of Chesapeake, VA.; sons, Sidney Wilmer Bowen, Jr. and wife Shirley of Greenville, N.C., James 'Mike' Bowen and wife Michelle of Elizabeth City, N.C., David Terrance Bowen and wife Linda, Christopher Robin Bowen and wife Donna and Richard Joseph Bowen all of Plymouth, N.C.; sisters, Mavis Ambrose Mohorn of Bath, N.C., Pauline Ambrose Windley of Pinetown, N.C. and Jackie Ambrose Boyd of Chocowinity, N.C.; brother, David F. Ambrose of Washington, N.C.; seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Bob Moulden officiating. Burial will follow in Long Acre Chapel Christian Church Cemetry. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter, June B. Morris. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Washington County Public Library. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
