Obituary for Ella Mae Jones Phelps
Mrs. Ella Mae Jones Phelps, 93, of Roper died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
Born August 2, 1916 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late William Gabriel Jones and Theresa Peacock Jones and was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Carney Phelps; daughters, Maysel Ashe and Martha Lois Phelps; sister, Ida J. Oliver; brothers, Ronald Jones, Dallas Jones, Raymond Jones, Lloyd Jones, Sr. and Ernest Jones. Mrs. Phelps was a homemaker and last charter member of Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Her family includes her daughters, Glenda P. Hall of Yorktown, VA, and Sherry P. Ward and husband Francis of Roper, NC; son, Nathan Daryl Phelps of Roper, NC and his fiance' Susie Frymier of Plymouth, N,C.; sister, Maude J. Peele of Roper, NC; grandchildren, Bobby Dee Ashe, Jr. and wife Kelly, Steve Ashe and wife Cheryl, Mark Ashe, Kristy Salvadore and husband Tony, Nathan Ward and wife Kristi and Ashley Culbertson and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Bobby Dee Ashe, III, Carson Ashe, Stevie Ashe, Kyle Mullins, Tanner Mullins, Michael Weigand, Kenleigh Ward and Zoe Ward.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church, Roper with Reverend Bobby Williams, Reverend Maurice Phelps and Reverend Raymond Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
