Obituary for Edna 'Sis' LeFever Norman
Mrs. Edna "Sis" LeFever Norman, 90, of Roper died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at her residence in Roper.
Born December 1, 1919 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Amzie P. LeFever and Bessie Smith LeFever and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wiley Norman, Sr.; son, Captain Thomas W. Norman, Jr.; sisters, Peggy F. Gregory, Lois F. Dunbar and Helen F. GayLord; brothers, Charles LeFever, Ralph LeFever, Jack LeFever and Hoyt LeFever. Mrs. Edna retired with thirty year's service as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of St. Luke's/St. Anne's Episcopal Church. She was the owner of The Knit Shop in Roper and was a former member of the Washington County Planning Board.
Her family includes her daughters, Linda N. Chesson and husband Merlin of Roper, N.C., Pamela N. Rath and husband Joseph of Columbia, S.C., Catherine N. Bowen and husband Michael of Plymouth, N.C.; son, Robert W. Norman and wife Betty of Rocky Mount, N.C.; sister, Louise F. Richard of Winter Park, FL.; grandchildren, Scott Chesson, Michele Simpson and husband Danny, Tara Green and husband Lamar, Shannon Fruend and husband Scott, Courtney Steed and husband Hunter, Zachary Rath and Jason Rath; great grandchildren, Ashley Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Wiley Green, Sydney Green, Michael Freund, Macklin Freund and Marshall Freund.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke's/St. Anne's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Henry C. Burdick, III officiating. Private family burial will follow at a later time in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 7, 2010 following the services in the Community Building and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's/St. Anne's Episcopal Church, P,O. Box 119, Roper, N.C. 27970. The family extends special thanks to their Mom's loving caretakers: Helen Gibson, Sandy Dunbar and Joanna Clark. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
