Obituary for Edith Oliver Comstock
Edith Oliver Comstock, 66, of Roper died Friday, February 8, 2013, at her residence in Roper. Born June 6, 1946 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Stanley Oliver and Ruth Bateman Oliver and was preceded in death by her sister, Lillie Mae Comer and brother, Everett Oliver. Edith was a retired planning coordinator with 36 years service with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. She was a member of Roper Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a former member of Mount Tabor Free Will Baptist Church. Her family includes her husband of 42 years, Larry Dave Comstock of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Nicole Comstock Filak and husband Lawrence of Stewartstown, PA.; son, Marcus Dave Comstock and wife Joy of Wilson, N.C.; grandchildren, Nathan Filak, Lauren Filak, Tyler Filak, Dalton Comstock and Savannah Comstock; sisters, Linda Brooks and husband Bud of Washington, N.C., Alice Ann Meads and husband Frankie of Elizabeth City, N.C., Virginia Grimes and husband Wayne of Roper, N.C., Annette Rose of New Bern, N.C., Teressa Cooper and husband Doug, Angie Cahoon and husband Buddy, Cindy Jones and husband Cecil all of Creswell, N.C.; brothers, Stanley Oliver, Jr. and wife Paula of Manteo, N.C., Michael Oliver and wife Debbie of Creswell, N.C., Glenn Oliver and wife Tonya of Apex, N.C.; sister-in-law, Juanita Oliver of Roper, N.C. and brother-in-law, Jimmy Comer of Edenton, N.C. and many loving nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 5:00 pm at Roper Baptist Church with Reverend Howard Simpson officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday following the services at the church and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Washington County Relay for Life, Plymouth, N.C. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
