Obituary for Dorothy Mizell Stone
Dorothy Mizell Stone, 87, of Jamesville went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2016.
Born July 31, 1929 in Martin County she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Effie Wallace Mizell and was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Ambrose and brother, Jim Mizell. Dorothy, a graduate from Jamesville High School, retired from Weyerhaeuser Company in 1990 with forty years of service. She worked in personnel where she managed employee benefits for the entire N.C. region. She joined N.C. Pulp Company in 1945 and worked several years before taking time off for marriage and birth of her two sons. She later returned to Weyerhaeuser where she retired in February 1990. She was a member of the Jamesville Christian Church since the age of thirteen. She taught a Sunday School Class and was an active member of the Jamesville Christian Women's Fellowship in her active years. She also was a charter member of the "Noodle Swim Club". She enjoyed time with her friends.
Her family includes her sons, Duke V. Stone, II and wife Allison of Williamston, N.C. and Raymond Stephen Stone of Jamesville, N.C.; sister, Joyce Hardison of Jamesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Matthew Stone and wife Amanda of Wilmington, N.C.; Anna Pippins and husband Bradley of Winston Salem, N.C., Cody Stone and wife Mandi of Vanceboro, N.C. and Zachary Stone of Wilmington, N.C.; great grandchildren, Damien Pippins, Aubree Stone and Zoey Stone.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jamesville Christian Church with Reverend Doug Stokes and Dr. Stewart LaNeave officiating. Burial will follow in Jamesville Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, September 23, 2016 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Jamesville Christian Church and other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Jamesville Christian Church or Jamesville Fire and Rescue.
