Obituary for Dora F. Roughton
Mrs. Dora Fowkes Roughton, 76, of Columbia died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Born August 20, 1933 in Huntington, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Winfield Scott Fowkes and Dorothy Fink Fowkes and was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis B. Belangia and Dearl E. Roughton, Sr.; sister, Charlotte F. Barrett and step mother Helen Fowkes. Dora was a retired cafeteria manager with Tyrrell County Public Schools and member of Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church.
Her family includes her daughters, Dora R. Voliva and husband Dale of Columbia, N.C. and Annie L. Roughton of Hertford, N.C.; sons, Jimmy L. Belangia of Columbia, N.C., Johnny B. Belangia and wife Anna of Aydlett, N.C., Joseph W. Belangia and wife Elaine of Portsmouth, Va. and Dearl E. Roughton, Jr. and wife Sonya of Chocowinity, N.C.; grandchildren, John Belangia, Anthony Belangia, John Dolwick, Stacie Jo Belangia Cody B. Belangia, Christina Coleson, Hubert D. Voliva, Jr., Robert Elliott, Jr., Jessica Roughton, Brittany Roughton, Ryan Roughton and Matthew Roughton; great grandchildren, Alexis Belangia, Cami Coleson, Joslyn Voliva and David Jones, Jr.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia with Rev. Joseph Wynns officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
