Obituary for Caddie Comstock Ambrose Lilly Capps
Caddie Comstock Ambrose Lilly Capps, 90, of Creswell died Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at her residence in Creswell. Born September 18, 1924 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Sam Comstock and Pauline Phelps Comstock and was preceded in death by her husbands, Lehman P. Ambrose, Sr., Avis Lilly, and James Capps; sons; Lehman P. Ambrose, Jr., Bobby L. Ambrose; daughter, Alice A. Bowen; brothers, William Comstock, Abram Comstock and Lloyd Comstock; sisters, Evelyn Sawyer and Lula Reynolds. Mrs. Caddie was a homemaker and member of Philippi Church of Christ. Her family includes her sons, Ronald H. Ambrose and wife Janet, Lehman P. Ambrose, Jr. and wife Mary and J. Michael Ambrose and wife Kay all of Creswell, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Ambrose-Whitfield and husband Bruce of Plymouth, N.C.; son-in-law, Michael Bowen of Elizabeth City, N.C.; step children, Ralph Capps and wife Sharon of Raleigh, N.C., John Capps and wife Nancy of Henderson, N.C.; brother, Howard Comstock, of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Calce Ann Whitfield of Chesapeake, VA.; sisters-in-law, Lena Comstock and Christine Pittman of Chesapeake, VA.; ten grandchildren, Bobby L. Ambrose and wife Heather, Deborah L. Ambrose, Rochelle Patrick and husband Doug, Stacy L. Thornley and husband Michael, Tammy Givens and husband Patrick, Justin Bowen and wife Laneane, Melissa Rose and husband Johnny, Lynn Ambrose, Michell Furlough and husband Cory and Dawl Fairfield and husband Matt; six step grandchildren, Missy Hurteau, James Capps and wife Cindy, Benjy Capps and wife Heather, Beth Carroll and husband Charlie, Kathy Smart and husband Rob and John Capps and wife Claire; fourteen great grandchildren, Drew, Laura, Katlyn, Megan, Markel, Emmanuel, Haley, Tyler, Cody, Kyler, Madison, Emma, Jonathan and Madeline; eleven step great-grandchildren, Luke, Lauren, Robert, Brian, Micah, Noah, Wesley, Bobby, Hayden, Daisy and Ryan and one great-great grandchild, Jose. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Philippi Church of Christ, Creswell with Glenn Brickhouse and Larry Woodley officiating. Burial will follow at Open Door Christian Ministries Cemetery, Creswell. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence of her son Ronald Ambrose. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Kidney Foundation or the Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
