Obituary for Betty Lou Brickhouse
Betty Lou Everton Brickhouse, 88, of Columbia died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 20, 1930 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Fred Carlon Everton and Minnie Marie Parisher Everton and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edmond Brickhouse; grandson, Blake Edmond Cahoon; brothers, Myron Everton and Freddie Everton and special friend, Duard Brickhouse. Betty was a retired Medicare Associate with Tyrrell County Health Department and member of Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church. She served many years as the church treasurer, was an active choir member and member of the Women's Auxilary. She worked with the Partnership For The Sounds and volunteered with Meals On Wheels.
Her family includes her daughters, Marie B. Cutrell and husband James, Kathy B. Cahoon and husband James, Linda B. Holton and husband Phil all of Columbia, N.C., Jeanie B. Harrell and husband Clark of Gatesville, N.C.; sisters, Ann E. Rumbough and husband Wallace of Swannanoa, N.C., Lynne E. Flattum and husband Darryl of Waynesboro, Va.; grandchildren, Greta Jo Cutrell, Katherine Alphin and husband Andrew, Will Harrell and wife Laura, Lauren Harrell, Mary Anna Harrell, Evan Holton and Stephanie Holton; great grandchildren, Natalie Jackson, Anna Blake Alphin, Elisa Harrell and Carrie Harrell.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church, Columbia with Reverend Royce Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm at Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church Youth Group.
