Obituary for Barbara Barnes White
Barbara Eunice Barnes Smith White, 92, of Creswell died Friday, July 27, 2018, at her daughter's residence in Plymouth.
Born September 8, 1925 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Harry Primrose Barnes, Sr. and Adelia Spruill Barnes and was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Henry Smith, Sr. and Willard White; son, Stafford Barnes Smith; brother, Harry P. Barnes, Jr. and step-mother, Essie Davenport Barnes. Barbara was a retired bookkeeper and secretary, past worthy matron and member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Virginia Chapter 94 and member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church.
Her family includes her daughters, Yvonne Smith Ambrose and husband Bruce Whitfield of Plymouth, N.C. and Adelia Smith Malatesta and husband Richard Cox of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; son, Thomas H. Smith, Jr. and wife Sandra of Satellite Beach, FL.; grandchildren, Bobby Ambrose and wife Heather, Deborah Ambrose, Thomas Malatesta and wife April, Jennifer Woodall and husband Joseph, Christy Smith and Thomas Smith, III.; great grandchildren, Drew, Laura, Megan, Caitlyn, Markel, Emanuel, Riley, Marissa, Bianca, Giovanni, Ashlee, Lukas and Ramsie and great-great grandchildren, Brantley and Braeden.
Memorial service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, Creswell with Reverend Chris O'Briant officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 3739 National Drive, Raleigh, N.C. 27612.
