Obituary for Arnold Clifton Roberson
Arnold Clifton Roberson, 85, of Plymouth passed away peacefully Monday, September 2, 2019, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after a short illness.
Born December 24, 1933 in Martin County he was the son of the late Dempsey Roberson and Pearl Wells Roberson and was preceded in death by his sisters, Annie Jane Cole, Shirley Gurganus, Verdia Garrett and Mary Lou Carrow; brother, Tommy Roberson. Arnold began his working career for many years with Plymouth Oil Company and later was employed by Weyerhaeuser Corporation in the power department nearly forty years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army Veteran with service in Korea and Japan and member of Plymouth Church of Christ.
His family includes his loving wife of sixty-three years, Peggy Jean Rogers Roberson of Plymouth, NC; son, Randy Earl Roberson of Plymouth, NC; sisters, Stella Windom and husband Alton of Plymouth, NC, Betty Jo Ange and husband Larry of Jamesville, NC, Laura Bland of Williamston, NC and many loving nieces and nephews.
Arnold was a devoted husband and father. His life was a Christian example of hard work, caring, selflessness and generosity. Everyone who knew him loved him. He was a gentleman and a gentle man.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ with Bob Moulden officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ and other times at the residence. Due to the impending inclement weather there will not be a graveside service held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to your local hospice.
